The person who caught the gigantic fish was John Harvey, 42, originally from England. The fish caught by John broke the previous world record, which was held by a Siamese carp weighing 46kg.
“Holding a record is something I’m proud of,” John says. “Everyone wants to take photos with my tent.”
“I’m just an ordinary fisherman, so I really feel sorry for others because they spent a lot of money but didn’t catch anything that big,” John confessed.
John is a real estate investor. He has lived in Pattaya, Thailand, with his girlfriend Jenny Jaikumkao, 33, for the past 14 years.
The fish John caught was a Siamese carp. This is the largest carp in the world and is found in its natural habitat in river basins in Asia.
